SNS Reports Continued Drilling and Drift Advance
Vancouver, B.C.
April 21, 2008– SNS Silver Corporation (“SNS” or the “Company”) (TSX-V:
SNS) reports continued progress at the Crescent Property.
SNS has confirmed that Kettle Drilling is expected to supply two
additional core drills at the beginning of June 2008. Initially the
drills will be located on surface and used for the definition drilling
necessary to complete a National Instrument (“NI”) 43-101 resource
estimate by the end of calendar 2008. SNS plans to drill 20,000 to
30,000 feet from the surface this season, primarily for resource
definition, but with more than 80% of the property potential remaining
to be explored, new areas for drilling are also being contemplated.
SRK Consulting (“SRK”) has begun work with technical staff at the
Crescent, including observing procedures, interviewing geological staff
and reviewing historical and existing data.
SNS currently as one
core drill working underground and has completed over 18,000 feet of
drilling during 2008. To date, none of the underground core has been
sent for assay while awaiting receipt of additional certified assay
standards for the quality assurance and quality control program (“QA/QC
program”). SNS has decided to make some adjustments in the QA/QC
program since starting work with SRK; these changes do not reflect any
concerns regarding previously released results but are intended to
ensure consistency with current industry best practices. Selected
intervals will be delivered to American Analytical Services, Inc. in
Osburn, Idaho starting this week.
“The discoveries announced in the fall of 2007 were the result of
surface core drilling towards the west side of the Crescent Property,”
noted SNS President Tom Fudge. “We are currently extending our primary
underground access, the Hooper Tunnel, to the west and rehabilitating
the Alhambra level located approximately 500 ft above the Hooper
Tunnel. Both the Hooper Tunnel and the Alhambra level will provide
excellent horizontal access beneath the exploration targets defined by
our surface drilling program. We will have some great underground drill
platforms available in the fall of this year and, with this
infrastructure, we are in an excellent position to quickly transition
from exploration should development be warranted.”
Atlas-Fausett Contracting (“Atlas-Fausett”) has completed approximately
900 feet of drift advance to the west in the Hooper Tunnel and has
established two cross cuts to the south since January 2008.
Up on the Alhambra level and Big Creek #4, United Mine Services (“UMS”)
has completed almost 4,000 feet of rehabilitation and is starting to
work though what is thought to be the last major ground fall on the
level. The Alhambra level and Big Creek #4 combine to cross the entire
Crescent Property from east to west with horizontal access at each end,
essentially a tunnel from one side of the mountain to the other. “We’re
really excited about the access and infrastructure this level provides,
not only for exploration and potential development, but also for
secondary escape and ventilation,” Mr. Fudge said.
Mr. Fudge went on to say, “I am very pleased with the progress we’ve
made so far and the position we are in. We’re well funded with 12
million dollars in hand, we have great exploration targets and soon
we’ll be positioned for definition drilling.”
