Lisa Hardy Appointed Chief Geologist at Crescent Mine
Vancouver, B.C. June 10th, 2008– SNS Silver Corporation (“SNS” or the
“Company”) (TSX-V: SNS) is pleased to appoint Ms. Lisa Hardy as Chief
Geologist.
Ms. Lisa Hardy has been a staff and consulting geologist for metals and
mining companies for over twenty years. Ms. Hardy has extensive
experience in exploration, development and production phases of
underground metal mines, with an emphasis on sampling procedures,
metals accounting, and resource evaluation of precious metals deposits.
Between 1989 and 1993, she worked as a production or project geologist
at the Bunker Hill and Lucky Friday mines in the Coeur d'Alene mining
district, and at Hecla's Golden Promise mine in Republic, Washington.
From 1993 to 2001, Ms. Hardy was Senior Mine Geologist at Sunshine
Mining and Refining Company based in the Coeur d'Alene mining district.
Currently, she is a director of OFM Research, Inc., a private
not-for-profit corporation founded to promote the study of mineral
thermo chemistry.
Lisa Hardy received an A.B. in Geological Sciences from Cornell
University at Ithaca, NY in 1981, and a M.S. of Geology from University
of Georgia at Athens, GA in 1987. Between 1981 and 1989, she primarily
worked as a geologist and project geologist for DMBW, Inc., a mining
and geology consulting firm based in Denver, CO. While with DMBW, she
was involved in exploration drilling, reconnaissance sampling and
numerous ore reserve evaluation projects predominantly in the western
U.S.
Ms. Hardy is a Licensed Geologist in the state of Washington, and a
Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada. She is a past president
(1995-1996) of the Coeur d'Alene chapter of the Society of Mining
Engineers, and served (1998-2004) as a director of the Belt
Association, a not-for-profit organization that promotes study of the
Proterozoic Belt Supergroup/Purcell Group in the western U.S. and
Canada. “I believe the Crescent Mine is the premier exploration
property in the silver belt of the Coeur D’Alene Mining District and
I’m pleased to be joining the Crescent team at this exciting stage in
the program,” Ms. Hardy said.
Thomas Fudge, President and CEO of SNS, stated, “I am delighted that
Lisa has taken a leadership role in our geology department as we move
into the resource definition stage. We’re well funded with 10 million
dollars in hand, we have great exploration targets and we’ll start
definition drilling in June.”
Staff geologist Brian White, who lead the efforts resulting in the
South Vein and Alhambra Vein discoveries last fall, will gradually cut
back his involvement at the Crescent, but will continue to contribute
geologic expertise. He is very familiar with Ms. Hardy’s work and
recommended her for the position. Mr. White said, “Lisa has vital
experience and skills that are now essential at the Crescent. I’m
really pleased she jointed our team“.
Mr. Fudge went on to note, “Brian and Lisa make an outstanding team.
This combination will maintain continuity and enhance our capabilities
while providing Brian with the time to re-engage his passionate
interest and on-going involvement in rock mechanics research. Prior to
joining SNS, Brian was a key member of a team involved in innovative
research on the mechanics of mining-induced rock failure and rock
bursting conducted at the NIOSH Spokane Research Laboratory”.
